Be Prepared For Travel With This Great Advice Traveling can be a wonderful way to explore new places, learn about other cultures, and get some much-needed relaxation. Travel can also be a source of stress or problems if it's not done right. With the following travel tips you will find it easier to plan and enjoy whatever trips you find yourself taking. Don't fret if you love to travel but have a chronic illness! Your traveling days are not over. Just remember to travel smart by having all of your necessary medical emergency and supplies information readily accessible. You'll feel more comfortable leaving home and be prepared for any emergency situation! If you travel by air frequently, it's a good idea to learn the rules of the TSA. Every airport has a security checkpoint that you need yo pass before you can get too your plane and not knowing the security rules can make your time at the checkpoint frustrating for you and the people around you. If you are traveling into a malaria-prone area, in addition to anti-malaria pills, bring a mosquito net or find a room with a large ventilation fan. The net is best as it can almost completely stop mosquitoes from getting to you at night. The fan works because mosquitoes cannot fly as well into the wind, but it is not fool-proof. The airport is often the most stressful part of the travel experience. Travelers and airline employees alike are worried, feel and tense alone. The frequent traveler keeps these facts in mind and makes allowances for the stressful surroundings. Remember that everyone in an airport shares a common goal: To get to their destination safely and as quickly as practically possible. If you know in advance that you will be passing through some less-than-desirable neighborhoods or areas of town en route to your destination, don't rely solely on your in-dash GPS system. Map out alternate routes using MapQuest or Google Maps, so you don't end up in a bad part of town, in the middle of the night, with bad directions. Instead of putting your liquids in a plastic bag to prevent them from leaking, try unscrewing the lid and putting a piece of plastic from a grocery bag over the top and screwing the lid on over it. While a zip-lock bag will prevent spills from ruining things, this method will prevent things from spilling in the first place. Young children benefit from having their own personal bag when traveling. A small backpack is fine and the more choice they have in what to put into it the more entertained they will be on the trip. Always takepencils and paper, and crayons. Tuck in a map of your destination, maybe a hand held video game, a set of ear phones, and a snack or too. Another invaluable inclusion in these bags is a package of baby wipes. Bring a cotton surgical mask along for your flight if you suffer any sinus related issues. The recirculated air in airplanes can wreak havoc on your sinuses plus it is a good place for germs to colonize. Wearing these masks can greatly reduce discomfort and ensure a more pleasant flight. Try to stay cool while traveling. Bodies may naturally heat up due to closed quarters, limited airflow and just being nervous about visiting a new place. If on a ship, or opening a window in a car, make use of overhead vents on airplanes, standing on the deck. If you are unable to do so sit towards the front of the bus rather than at the back to avoid stale air, sometimes you may be able to crack a window open on a bus as well. When you are traveling overseas, try searching for souvenirs in unusual places. It has become increasingly difficult to find souvenirs that were made at the place you are visiting. Try looking in supermarkets, stationery shops and hardware stores. You will find things that people in the area actually use and the packaging will be unique to your destination. Look for "nonstop" rather than just "direct" flights. Nonstop flights, as their name implies, make no stops before arriving at the destination, whereas direct flights may stop at other airports on the way to the final destination. Although you are not changing planes, the stops you make on a direct flight can lead to many unexpected delays. If you're running out of space in your luggage, try rolling up socks or stockings and stuffing them inside shoes. Anything you have that's hollow - coffee shoes, mugs and boots etc. - can be used to stuff things inside to give yourself a bit of extra room in your luggage. Take the time to contact your insurance carrier if you will be driving when you travel to another country. They can give you any needed documentation that pertains to your insurance coverage, any additional insurance you may need and much needed advice or information about regulations for driving at your destination. Try not to bring luggage with you when traveling by plane. You can save lots of time and avoid unnecessary trouble. You can send your luggage, via FedEx or UPS, straight to your destination. It may be slightly more expensive, but is worth the additional investment. Use the internet to plan your trip. You can research thousands of destinations online to find the right place for your vacation. Using the internet, you can find information on just about any destination you can think of. You will not have the problem of finding too little information, rather, you may have the problem of information overload. Try to avoid eating anywhere that has a great view of a local tourist attraction if you are on a tight budget. While the food and atmosphere may be great, it will be incredibly expensive. This is due to the fact that you are technically paying a premium price just for the view of the tourist attraction. If you are traveling with children, bring a pair of dice with you. Your kids are sure to argue about something on your trip. Make the decision fair by allowing the children to roll the dice and attempt to get the highest number. That person can make the final decision regarding the argument.
